7 Ways to Generate Leads Online

The good news is, there are dozens of ways to generate leads, and some may be better for your business than other! 

That is why I have compiled a list of the best ways to generate leads and what you need to know about them:


1. eBooks

Offering eBooks to your website visitors is an effective strategy for B2B companies.  People love to learn more and gain greater expertise in their respective industry. 

However, make sure you don’t promote your services or products. People don’t want to be sold, they want to be informed. So write your eBook from a neutral perspective and give insight. Share the eBook through social channels, and ask your network to share it for you.

In addition, you’ll want to make sure that your landing page is set up with a form that requires visitors to input their name, email and phone number for a chance to download the eBook. This helps you capture the lead's information for future marketing efforts.

2. Newsletter

The newsletter is the simplest way to generate more leads.

Make sure you put a newsletter sign up in every possible place that makes sense on your website.

With a newsletter, not only do you have a captive audience (people have to opt-in to your newsletter) but email pathways are a great way to avoid getting lost in all the Internet clutter.

Again, don’t make it all about you.  Share topics such as your insights and industry news.

3. Blog

Having a blog is one of the best lead generating tools you can use. It allows a company (or person) complete control over the kind of content being offered as enticements to leads. It's also another opportunity to have the undivided attention of the reader.

Make sure that your blog is optimized to generate leads by having a sign-up section for your newsletter and by using the margins to promote your products and services.

Remember to give real value to your blogs and make them worth reading.

4. Twitter

Twitter is a great place for generating leads. You can use it to reach out to influencers in your industry and get into conversations with them. Their followers, who could possibly be some of your potential customers, will see your interactions and follow you or visit your site.

You can also follow trending subjects that pertain to your business and provide your thoughts into the general discussion by using the # symbol.

5. Engaging video

Try presenting an informative video! I'm not referring to a quickly-produced commercial that you might post on YouTube. I'm talking about a well-developed, informative guide for your visitors. The best videos both engage your customers and promote your business.

Once you’ve uploaded the video, you can increase views by using services like Mix to drive traffic to your video for pennies per viewer. Sites like YouTube allow you to put links directly into the video, so you can use these to connect back to specific landing pages on your website.

6. Infographic

Infographics are widely read among consumers. They’re quite cheap to produce as well. Just like every other point in this list, come up with an original idea, not about you specifically, but about your particular industry. And don't forget to share it on social channels and ask your network to pass it along. 

Always put your logo and website URL on the bottom of the infographic. This way readers will be able to recognize your branding and visit your site.

7. Webinar

Webinars are another inexpensive way to get your message to thousands of potential customers.

There are many services that allow you to broadcast a webinar quickly and easily. If you make it a recurring event, you’ll continue to grow your following.

People love true, authentic companies. They like it when a company has a strong, clear message, and when that message is consistent across all of their marketing platforms. With that in mind, don’t try and be everything to everyone. Customers want the experts and the company that is the best in their industry. Focus on communicating that through your branding.
